Patio paver options for Tampa Bay homes
Most Tampa Bay patios come down to two families of material.
Concrete pavers are what we make at our Tampa plant. They come in 11 colors and six patterns, from the classic 4x8 brick size up to 3-piece sets with an 8x12 piece. Every color page on our site lists patios among its uses. Each color has a defined blend, with natural variation between pieces and production batches.
Natural stone is the other route. We import and supply travertine, Shell Stone limestone and marble. Each piece varies a little, which is part of the appeal, so it’s worth seeing samples before you choose.
Either way, Universal Hardscapes supplies the materials, and an independent contractor installs them. We can help you find one through find a contractor.
Cheap patio paver ideas that don’t cut corners
“Cheap” shouldn’t mean a patio you’ll regret. These budget-friendly patio ideas help you spend wisely without giving up quality. We don’t publish prices because they depend on product and quantity, so call (813) 884-0010 for pricing on your plan.
Buy direct from the manufacturer
We make our concrete pavers in Tampa and sell direct to homeowners and contractors, with no middleman. You can call the people who make the pavers, ask questions about colors and quantities, and get your price from the source. Call (813) 884-0010 for pricing.
Measure carefully and order the right number of pallets
Ordering too much is one of the easiest ways to overspend. Coverage varies by pattern and packing unit; confirm the square feet per cube or pallet for your selected product before ordering. Measure your patio, subtract any planting beds, and use our paver and pallet guide for a first count. Then ask your installer how much to add for cuts, so you order enough without a pile of leftovers.
Pick up at our Tampa plant
Homeowners and contractors can pick up at our Tampa plant, 7720 US Hwy 301 N, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Picking up means you don’t need to arrange delivery. Prefer to have it brought to you? Delivery timing, service area and availability must be confirmed with our team for your order.
Choose a stock pattern and color
Our standard range covers 11 colors and six patterns, which is plenty for most patios. Ask our team to confirm available sizes, stock and timing before you order. Picking from the standard range keeps your order simple.
Keep the layout simple
A simple laying pattern with straight edges and fewer curves usually means fewer cut pieces. That’s a general industry point, and your installer has the final say on the layout. Ask them which option fits your space and goals.
Use one material for the whole yard
Run the same paver from your patio to the walkway, around the grill area or out to the side yard. One product means one order, one color to match, and a yard that looks pulled together.
Start smaller and plan to extend
You don’t have to pave everything at once. Lay the core patio now, then add a walkway or seating area later. Call us before planning a later order: availability and an exact color match cannot be guaranteed. Our catalog notes that there may be slight variations in actual colors and designs.
Mix materials for impact
A small accent goes a long way. Try a concrete paver field with a contrasting border, such as Charcoal around Sand Stone, or pair concrete pavers with natural stone coping at a pool edge. You get a custom look while most of the patio stays in one product.
Request a sample before you buy
A sample in your own backyard light is the surest way to choose once. Request one from any color page, or call (813) 884-0010. It’s much easier to decide on a color in person than from a screen.
Concrete patio pavers: colors and patterns
All 11 of our concrete colors are made for patios, so start with the mood you want.
- Light and bright: Ice Gray (white and pewter), Sand Stone (warm beige, sandy taupe and soft gray with cream highlights; it’s concrete, not natural sandstone), Siesta (white, tan and charcoal) and Oasis (white, tan and charcoal).
- Warm brown: Coffee Brown (tan and charcoal) and Burnt Amber (tan and dark brown). Coffee Brown is our go-to answer for brown patio pavers.
- Red and warm: Crimson Tide (red, tan and charcoal), Scarlet (orange, tan and charcoal) and Sunset Blend (red, brown and yellow).
- Dark and modern: Charcoal (a striking black hue) and Smoke (gray and charcoal).
Compare samples outdoors in the light and conditions of your own patio before you decide.
For shapes, you can pick from Atlas 4x8 (beveled), Troy 6x9 (cobbled), Valencia 6x6 and 6x9 (cobbled), Olympia 4x8, 8x8 and 8x12 (beveled), Roma in the same three sizes (straight edge, embossed) and Milano 4x6, 6x6 and 6x9 (cobbled). Our residential pavers are 60 mm (2 3/8 in) thick, and for commercial projects every color also comes in 80 mm in the Atlas pattern. Our paver patterns and sizes guide compares them all.
Matching the pattern to the space helps too. On a bigger patio, the 3-piece Olympia and Roma sets mix a 4x8, an 8x8 and an 8x12, so the surface feels open and relaxed. Our catalog shows them in Smoke, Ice Gray, Oasis and Siesta. Valencia’s 6x6 and 6x9 pair suits a smaller patio, and Milano, which comes in all 11 colors, gives a cozy, cobbled look around seating areas and garden paths.

Brick paver patio: the Atlas 4x8 look
Want a brick paver patio in Tampa? Our Atlas paver is the 4x8 brick size with a beveled edge. These are concrete pavers in a brick size, not clay brick, so you get the classic look in a paver made at our Tampa plant.
Our catalog shows Atlas in Charcoal, Crimson Tide, Coffee Brown, Scarlet and Smoke. For the most traditional red-brick feel, look at Crimson Tide or Scarlet. Coffee Brown gives a softer, warmer brick look, and Charcoal or Smoke takes it in a more modern direction.

Travertine and shellstone patios
If you love the look of natural stone, travertine and shellstone are both presented for patios on our site.
Travertine. We supply five travertines: Ivory, Silver, Roman Blend, Country Classic and Leonardo, all with a tumbled finish. Every one comes in 6x12 and French Pattern, a mixed-size set. The site lists patios and walkways as uses. Browse them on our travertine page.
Shellstone. Our Shell Stone is an imported natural limestone, described as a white blend with shell. It has a tumbled finish and comes in French Pattern and 6x12. The site lists pool decks, patios and garden paths among its uses. Read more in our shellstone guide.
Marble. For a refined look, our three marbles (Akoya, Diana Royal and Talya Gray) have a leathered finish and are presented for patios, paths and walkways.
Natural stone varies piece to piece, so request samples. You’ll see real variation in natural stone, while concrete pavers have defined color blends with variation between pieces and batches. Wondering about heat? Read does travertine get hot?. See every option on our natural stone page.

How much to order
For concrete pavers, coverage varies by pattern and packing unit. Confirm the square feet per cube or pallet for your selected product. Measure the patio, subtract anything that won’t be paved, and ask your installer what to add for cuts. Our paver and pallet guide walks you through it.
For natural stone, French Pattern is sold in crates. Catalog packing for some French Pattern products is 11 sets per crate at 16 sq ft per set, or 176 sq ft per crate. Confirm the packing for your selected stone before ordering.
